When it comes to self-tanners, I’ve had mixed experiences – especially as I am super sensitive about their scent. So when Chanel announced the launch of their L’Eau Tan earlier this year, I couldn’t wait to try it. The distribution of the product is limited, so I ordered it online in the Chanel Beauty Store and got it delivered in a nice Chanel gift box with some additional samples. I have been using the product all summer long for a subtle tan and plan to keep using it this fall to extend my sun kissed look after our last vacation.
L’Eau Tan is not your regular self-tanner (read: sticky spray or lotion) but rather concepted as a refreshing and fragranced tanning water. The self-tanning body mist was created by the brand’s global creative make-up and colour director Lucia Pica as a tribute to Coco Chanel’s L’Huile Tan, which was developed in 1932. I use L’Eau Tan for the body for a golden tan but it also works as refreshing face mist for a more sunkissed look. I especially love the subtle scent, which is very different from what you might know from the usual self-tanning products. Also, it is easy to apply and I haven’t had any issues with stains on my linens or clothes after using the product, which is a great plus.
Last but not least – remember it is a Chanel product after all which esentially also means a fantastic product design (the L’Eau tan is housed in a super sleek frosted glass bottle) as well as a spectacular price tag (we’re talking 56 EUR for 75ml).
For me, this is definitely one of my summer essentials which I’m keeping on my list whenever I need a bit of that summer glow without having time for a vacation by the pool.
